As the final swimmer grudgingly got out of the water, I climbed down from the lifeguard chair as raindrops were beginning to pound my face. "I can’t believe this!" I grumbled to myself. "So much for being a glamorous junior lifeguard with a great tan!" As I ran up the beach with wet hair plastered to my face, I tripped on a piece of driftwood. Just as I landed flat on my face, I heard a voice call out. "Hey, watch where you’re going!" As I was sprawled out on the beach, covered with sand from head to toe and no doubt resembling a living sandcastle, I looked up. There was Dwayne, only the cutest and most popular guy at Parkeville Junior High. I suddenly wished I could crawl inside a sandcastle and never come out!

About the Book
In this first book of The Beach Club series, the five main characters and junior lifeguards form their own club and plan their first big social event, a dance. As they plan the beach bash, the girls learn a lot about friendship, love, and even a little about themselves in the process. After reading the book, readers can become Beach Club members and receive free newsletters and club mailings. Readers may also choose to become honorary members and Beach Club officers. Honorary members will receive an official Beach Club lifesaver charm. At the end of the book, readers will find an invitation and step-by-step instructions to host their own Beach Club bash!
About the Author
Pamela S. Bacon lives on Raccoon Lake with her husband, Scott, and 14 year-old son, James. Many of her ideas in The Beach Club series come from the fun she and her friends had growing up around the lake. Bacon, a freelance writer and school librarian, has published several articles for young adults. When not writing, she enjoys swimming, boating, and (what else!) hanging out at the beach.
