Madlyne Sorro was going to save planet Earth, and her husband thought she was crazy. "Can’t understand why you’re so upset, Mad." "Upset?" She stormed to her husband’s favorite chair, ripped the sports section out of his hand, threw it to the floor. "Not upset Wil, disgusted with people who think like you!" Madlyne grabbed some papers off the table, ran upstairs muttering, "Unfortunately, you’re in the majority!" She slammed the door to her study. He shouted, "Heard the same stuff for years, nothing’s ever happened yet!" Avoiding an argument, Madlyne decided to leave for the University an hour early. Her office was quiet, void of interruptions. Time to think, strategize before teaching her eight o’clock class. The usual supper, homework weren’t a problem. Her two sons were spending the night at a friend’s house. Walking by the den, Madlyne heard the sports channel announcing game scores blasting back at Wil. She left the house. He didn’t question her early exit. Sorro Construction’s thirty-five year old president felt his wife was taking the latest crisis too far. Always an activist, fought for every meaningful cause. He’d admired her drive, encouraged her, rarely agreed with her. Her reaction to the latest crisis was different. Two weeks earlier, the global warming crisis had been announced. 'Ten years til doomsday’. Wil told her she’d gone off the deep end, was preoccupied, obsessed with saving the world. "What the hell can you do? News says it’s almost irreversible." "Almost is the key word, Wil. Almost!" He remembered the conversation well. He’d asked her how a thirty-three year old wife, mother, science professor was going to perform a miracle. "Watch me! Just watch me." Their conversations had been minimal since the crisis announcement. The 'ten years til doomsday’ theme had become the latest target for comedy, jokes on the late night shows. Wil and his twenty-four employees were as guilty as David Lederman and guests. Wil Sorro took a long sip of beer, muttering, "What the hell happened to the black haired beauty I married?" Slamming his fist violently on table, his beer almost spilling, he shouted "Go on, save your goddamn world!" Volume turned up, he lost himself in the game, forgetting about doomsday and his wife.

About the Book
Madlyne Sorro, mother, wife, environmentalist, professor of Ecology, is determined to save the world from global warming (Ten Years ’til Doomsday). She creates Project SOL (Save Our Lives), but her husband, like the public, doesn't take the crisis seriously; their marriage fails. Johnathan Winder, a wealthy, handsome CEO, environmentalist, is highly impressed with Madlyne's SOL Project. Both have the same dedication, drive and determination to save the planet. They become partners in SOL. His marriage ends in divorce after his alcoholic wife, JoAnne, tries to kill him, jealous of his relationship with Madlyne. It is apparent that Madlyne and Johnathan will eventually become more than SOL partners. Both, however, are so deeply engrossed in SOL locally, nationally and internationally, neither has time for anything beside saving the planet. Each has one objective: Save Our Lives. Johnathan presents SOL to Timothy Caldor – best friends, and one of the world’s wealthiest people. He, like Madlyne and Johnathan, wants to live. "What good is all this money if I'm not alive to spend it, pal?" For global acceptance, and United Nations’ approval, SOL would require billions of dollars, international connections and United Nation’s networking. Timothy has infinite access to national and international funding, and networking. While all three are desperately working on SOL before a "doomsday" deadline, SOL’s Scientific Research Center develops a safe substitution for fossil fuel: SOL is accepted by the United Nations as its mandated Universal Environmental Program and Madlyne Sorro becomes an international heroine whose Project SOL indeed saves the planet.
About the Author
Gi Madison’s first novel, East Side, West Side, All Around the World, was completed a decade ago and stored in an empty freezer. Today, with the environmental issues of the world more critical than ever, the manuscript was retrieved from the freezer, rewritten and revised, and now appears here in full force. Madison, the mother of six, and a full-time graphic designer, has already finished her second novel and is outlining a third. With an entrepreneurial instinct, she has been a fashion designer and manager of her two boutique shops. She holds a Masters Degree in Family Counseling and is a co-creative director in Lone Wolf Advertising, Inc. in Woodbridge, Connecticut.
