About the Book
When the sun sets in Baltimore it is a good time to run home. Criminals and psychos roam the streets hunting for victims. Corrupt minds and decadent fortunes rule the high-rises toying with the future of the people. And most of all, at night the vampires come out to play. Desmond Blanchard is alone. He is a genius and he sweeps the floors of a low-rent dinner theater for his tyrannical boss. When he meets an enigmatic woman named Darya and follows her down the wrong alley, his life and world are warped beyond recognition. He is killed and reborn as one of the walking dead. Now he learns of the secret world of the vampires and what they have in store for Charm City. They don’t want to conquer Baltimore in their evil, as they already have, and Desmond has the chance to choose which evil should rule. The struggle will take him to the home of werewolves, the domains of black magic, the haunts of ghosts, and depths of his soul. Being dead has never been tougher.
About the Author
Erik Kiessling is not half as creepy or pessimistic as his undead creation. On some days he’s worse. He holds a BS in biology from Villa Julie College in Stevenson, Maryland and began writing his vampire novel to scare his drama teacher, make certain English majors jealous, and mostly to cope with life in general. His character, Desmond Blanchard, came from a wish to see more good deeds rewarded and more evil deeds punished, and also because turning into a raven and flying over the city is just too enticing to ignore. Erik is on a regular basis rather cordial and humorous and enjoys drawing, acting, paleontology (he has that Biology degree for a reason), comedy, listening to movie soundtracks, rock and roll, science fiction books, and of course writing. Currently he is juggling two more books, one on modern fantasy and the other on futuristic science fiction. He was born in Baltimore and now lives in Severn, Maryland. The only identifiable similarity he shares with Desmond is that they both own a black cat.
