"Awakening The Soul: Book 3: Restoring Your Spiritual Nature"
Most religions acknowledge the belief that we are here to evolve our Souls to their highest state of perfection. But how can your Soul evolve to its highest potential if you have never fully, consciously acknowledged its existence?
Each of us must awaken our Soul by acknowledging its presence, and remembering its unlimited power and potential. This acknowledgment each day will effortlessly allow you to know your Soul, and allow your Soul to awaken to full conscious awareness. Until now, it has stayed in the shadows. It is time to bring it to the forefront of your life.
That is our primary mission in life – remembering and restoring our spiritual nature to its highest state. Being "good" alone won’t succeed; becoming one with your Soul will achieve the desired perfection. Then, the "goodness" comes naturally.
Despite the Soul’s ethereal nature, it is very much a part of our daily lives. Sensitive people are said to "have Soul." Those who are spiritually aware are "enlightened Souls." People who do great evil "sell their Soul." Those with wanderlust "have gypsy in their Soul." Wayward people are "lost Souls," and unfortunate people are "poor Souls," while friendly or helpful people are "good Souls."
When we vow to keep a secret we promise "never to tell another Soul." A spiritually troubled person is "a wounded Soul." Children wise beyond their years are known as "old Souls." The eyes are the "windows of the Soul," and when we tell the whole truth, we "bare our Soul."
When we make crucial decisions, we "search our Soul" When someone dies, we say, "may their Soul rest in peace." A loving thought "warms our Soul" and serene music "soothes our Soul." We all have "hope in our Soul." We seek our "Soul mate." We have "Soul brothers" and "Soul sisters" and "Soul music" and "Soul food." And we love "heart and Soul."
But as frequently as we refer to our Soul, we can’t describe our Soul, or see our Soul. We just feel its mysterious presence deep inside ourselves. When we think of our Soul, the thought stirs powerful forces in our chest, near our hearts. Thus, most people believe their Soul resides near their heart, if not encompasses it.
Your Soul is alive and aware, intelligent and curious. Your Soul knows there is more to life than what we are taught or what is readily apparent. It is the part of you that is curious about this book’s revelations.
We are all born with a Soul, we live our entire lives with a Soul, and our Soul is the only part of us which survives the death of our physical body. Yet we are never taught to honor the presence of our Soul, to consciously communicate with it, or to engage our Soul in our daily mental and emotional processes.
Most of us treat our Soul as if it didn’t exist. We ignore it. We pay more attention to our hair than we do to our Soul.
Certainly some spiritual people feel the presence of their Souls more intensely than others. Clerics of all religions, holy men and women around the world, spiritual seekers and meditators feel the presence of their Souls considerably more than those who pass through life "too busy" to be aware of its existence. Yet even those who are aware rarely give their Soul equality with their dominant egos, or restore their Soul to its proper role in guiding their lives.
This you can do now.
The Soul – our sacred spark of God within us, the very core of our existence, the essence of our being and the seat of our intellect and personality – should be the most intimate element of our daily lives. Yet sadly for most humans and world society, most of us ignore the presence of our Souls. How different we and the world would be if we all would acknowledge our Souls and our spiritual nature.
Your Soul merely awaits your acknowledgment before resuming its long-awaited return to guiding your conscious state of awareness. You begin this process by simply remembering your Soul’s presence on a daily basis. May not this remembrance be the key to overcoming the "Fall of mankind" said to be within each one of us? May not this simple act also trigger the remembrance of our Creator within our Souls as well?
In the teachings of the three great Western religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam – the "image and likeness" in which God created us is our Souls, not our physical bodies, which are all different. We are told – not once, but twice – in the opening passages of the Old Testament, that God created us "in His image and likeness" (Gen. 1:26-27) and, we are reminded a third time that man is made "in the image" of God (Gen. 9:6).
We can empower and awaken our Souls by identifying ourselves as our Soul, and not by the physical body that we are temporarily wearing. This begins by acknowledging your Soul and the holy presence within your Soul every day.
How do we acknowledge this holy presence within our Souls? How can we communicate with it? How do we give it equal time in our day-to-day lives? How do we utilize its limitless love, energy and wisdom? How do you speak to your best friend? It is that easy to communicate with your Soul.
If we can consciously communicate with our Soul and with the loving, holy presence within our Soul, then we should strive to achieve this immediately. In reality, we intimately interact with our Soul every instant of our lives. The Soul is the divine essence that powers the body and subtly guides us above the endless chatter of our dominant egos. But it operates above our conscious awareness. To fully utilize the enormous powers and abilities of the Soul, we need to become consciously reacquainted with it.
We begin to remember our true spiritual heritage through awakening our Soul. Its presence is one of the most important aspects of our lives. Thus our Soul is the true foundation of our lives. Remembrance of our Soul’s presence is the first step in our individual spiritual ascent, our return to our Creator.
But how do we do something as strange as awakening and consciously communicating with our Soul? Fully awakening the Soul requires extensive preparation, but a simple introduction can begin the process. Just as you would greet a friend, simply turn your mental focus inward and consciously connect your Mind with your Soul. Just close your eyes and silently say, "Hello" to your Soul with your Mind. A joyous, loving greeting of "Welcome!" would be even better. A sincere request to "Please guide my life" could follow. In this simple greeting, you have taken the first step in the divine process of awakening your Soul.
