The Immutable Search
Dark is the sight, which conceals a man’s hate, and the desires of his heart. Although many perceive him as warm and caring, his past is similar to an eerie autumn’s night—chilly, black and mysterious. As a child, he saw and experienced many dreadful things—the beatings of his mother, the molestations of his sister, and the coerced separation of his family. Still controlled by the odious past he wishes to abandon, he’s unable to trust or love any woman. Unfortunately, the brave and daring women who’ve shared their heart and body with him, found themselves alone and emotionally scarred. This was usually the outcome following a night of passion and temporary delight. Unfortunately, due to no fault of their own, these trusting women were not aware of the important knowledge they needed prior to their seeking this man’s company. Beneath his success, charm and confidence lays a film of self-loath, anger and deceit. The paths on which he traveled towards adulthood were turned murky due to affliction’s rains and misery’s storms. The detours towards the promises of bliss led him to seduction’s corners, where he was then dragged through the darkened tunnels of defile, dishonesty and distrust. Sadly and overlooked, this man’s cry for help is hidden within the solemn howls of his smile. However, his love for lust is buried underneath the soot of his intelligent mind and his fragile heart. Mistakenly, these women who’ve given themselves to this man failed to know Das Treymone.
Young, ambitious, intelligent, and handsome, Das Treymone is a successful businessman who attracts women like mosquitoes to warm flesh. While some women are attracted to his magnetic personality and determination, others find themselves at the mercy of his majestic appearance and seductive, white smile. His subtle eyes mesmerize all who look into them. Some individuals believe men should envy such a man. However, although blessed with riches by his hard work and his investments, Das is also cursed. His ability to love is a gift which was taken away from him after being hurt by the women he cared for most. Thus leading to his insatiable appetite for unemotional intimacy. Capable of satisfying his sexual urges by sleeping with various women of his choice, Das decides the morning following a passion night with his 58th victim he no longer has the desire to use women for his own sexual pleasures. Hence, he sells his printing business and escapes his indecent ways by moving to Dalay with his brother Kristoffe. After purchasing a four-bedroom house, overlooking the ocean, he tries to find peace within himself.
For six months, Das enjoys his seclusion from civilization as he deals with his emotional issues. Each day he sits on his bedroom balcony and writes in his journal. Each night, following conversation with his brother, he cries as he reflects on his past. Although content with being alone, he still has an unfulfilled desire to be a good man for a special woman. Realizing he has rid himself a great many of his emotional pains, he decides the time to find a special woman has come.
During an 1884, Dalay spring evening, Das and Kristoffe speak of memories past as they sit at the kitchen table. In the midst of their laughs and jokes, Das detours from the conversation at hand and asks his brother a series of questions.
“Kristoffe, can a man attain knowledge from a woman when he is considered the head of his household, the king of his castle and ordained as a leader? As a woman has been taught, can he, too, be submissive without losing his strength in his woman’s eyes?”
Kristoffe stares at Das for a moment then shakes his head.
“Das, you have become this peculiar person whom lately I don’t know. Each day you speak as if you’re losing your complicated sense of touch. At least you can do, since you’ve dragged me here to the middle of almost nowhere, is act like my old brother—the brother that didn’t speak like this. My single answer to all of your questions is no! Women are weak, and there are only a few reasons for their existence!”
“Really, Kristoffe? Entertain me!”
“Das, women are here in this world to make sure our food is well prepared, to bear our children, and to please us in every way, and, in any fashion we so desire. Therefore, to learn from a woman is incredulous and ridiculous!”
Das stares at his brother for a moment. An awkward smile appears on his face.
“Kristoffe, after your amusing, yet dysfunctional anecdotes, I’m happy that I brought you to Dalay. The general population should thank me for removing someone like you from its circulation. Truthfully, I despise those who answer no to my questions. I am a man filled with rage, hurt, and deceit; however, I am empty and would simply like a woman who I can provide for emotionally without having to be indecent.”
