This book is dedicated to my mother Mrs. Mizpah Major, the memory of Mr. Bill Allen and the wonderful people of the tropical village of Tarpum Bay, Eleuthera in the Bahamas Much like the island it represents, this book is an eclectic collection of poems which overall attempt to give you a slice of life on a wonderful tropical island afloat one hundred and twenty miles to the east of Miami or the peninsula of the state of Florida. Imagine you had given up you home and find a wonderful tropical place like this you could call your own. Eleuthera is a place where the warm hearts and the friendship of the local people overwhelm you causing you to return again and again. The mixed culture and personality of the island is immense and lovable. This book hopes to give you but a glimpse of some of that life. Life in Eleuthera by its inhabitants is still described as the most idealic freedom in the world. Daily events and life goes on seamlessly, flowing from one example or aspect of Nirvana here on earth. The humor is delightful, the disposition of the lovely inhabitants fruitful. Many have seen the essence this determination and beauty. I am but a passing vessel observing the interest of the culture, reporting to the broader world. So if you haven’t yet found Nirvana look here to this wonderful paradise still here in the new Millennium. This edition brings out the rich history and love for heritage and inheritance of the material and cultural richness of a Centuries old local, island tradition. One cannot separate himself from his roots sunken deeply in the pages of history. One may seek to share his riches and wealth of warm hearted lovely people who have through the misfortune of the long suffering mixed races. All have glory to tell. Gargantuan, that is the roar that troubles this Sunday's sea. Still blue and green she tries to appeal to passers by School lurks in the distance. Birds in numbers, few wrestle with Nothing finer can be beholden besides the winter’s sky.
As we sit amidst the tyranny of the midday’s sea.
What a spectacle for tourists to see, the midday roar
of the angry Caribbean sea as she shuttles by
angrily in unison with the mighty rushing wind.
as usually she would do, but the whitecaps.
The roar of surging whitecap seas explodes
near the shore with all but a migraine illusion.
How free and cool this air feels flowing in for free
after natures drama performs by the sea.
The scent of fish and sea creatures laden
the magical air as it fights its way to
land lighting the childhood dreams of many
who will never forget its angry sight.
The bar mans doors in the
peachy borders awakens the profane.
the tide for the derelict foods they do
supply on rocky, beachside landscape
as picturesque as the lunar moon.
The lush blue magical, bright hues and
drifting white clouds of winter makes the winter worth its claim,
nothing could be finer than a racing winters day by the seashore
when the racing of the mighty wind cannot change its course.

About the Book
This volume of poetry is written about the subject matter of life on the small Bahamian island of Eleuthera. In this poetry you will see vivid examples of life presently in the island of Eleuthera both past and present. The tranquility and the preservation of culture are evident and unstoppable. The pleasantness of the tourist island atmosphere comes out in this volume of poetry. I have paid particular attention to our surrounding landscape, the glistening Caribbean Sea and forests. Almost every aspect of our wonderful, free, island lifestyle is written about in this volume of poetry. If you are looking for a modern paradise you have found one. This inescapable, loving island is a place yearned for by the masses of people in the world. This volume of poetry sets the captives free of everything bothersome and gives a refreshing relief to those who ask the question," Does Nirvana exist?" The answer is a resounding, "Yes." About the Author
George Major, the author of Turtle Soup Theory is a native, Bahamian residing on the lovely island of Eleuthera, Bahamas. He is a product of the Tarpum Bay public school. The author also attended Windermere high school after which he studied and received a degree in electronics engineering in Buffalo New York. He also attended studies for two years at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. It is to say the least to say that Mr. Major loves his island of Eleuthera. He has dedicated most of his literary skills promoting and exposing the beautiful Tropical island of Eleuthera in an attempt to share with both the inhabitants of Eleuthera some of his artistic and creative skills.
