Sacred Portals: Pathways to the Self

Sacred Portals of the Mind is about opening doors into the psyche to awaken your inner knowing, which will lead you to your authentic self. It is also about learning how to fine-tune your state of consciousness in order to accommodate the vibrational nature in the universal energy fields, which is one of the keys to knowing your inner self. Accessing the interactive fields in the vibrational universe is important because of the transformative energy and its numinosity that occurs while in these betwixt and between places. The root word of numinosity is numen, a Latin word meaning a god. Numinosity conveys an illumination; it is a felt, live experience that transforms the experiencer. When in its presence, everyone feels it. It is like an electrical charge and you know you have been touched by something beyond your everyday world. Your world will be forever illuminated vis-à-vis that experience.

Sacred Portals is also about the interface between Earth’s energy and our bodies as tuning devices, which are gateways that lead you to synchronistic experiences. In this book you will learn how to activate these gateways and how to bring them into your life in specific ways. Threshold experiences are unforgettable, numinous experiences that will open you more fully to who you are.

I believe that each threshold state is a bandwidth of energy with its own vibratory signature. We can access these states by learning how to recognize each octave through our own tuning device...the body. You will not only learn about the multiple gateways available to you, but also, you will receive guidance and exercises to do throughout the book to develop your perceptual senses as a part of the journey to Self.

Not only do I share with you my personal story of discovering the healing power of threshold states, but I also tell many stories of others’ experiences to give you solid ground in the landscape of threshold realms. I also have included several exercises throughout the chapters for you to use if you wish while reading this book. Threshold places feel sacred as one encounters the numinous, live energy encountered in these experiences. Sacred portals occur in many forms, each a zone, or dimension unto itself. They occur in the outer world and the inner world of the psyche and at some points, it is impossible to make a distinction between the two! This book gives you an understanding of thresholds and how to invite experiences of them into your life. Although I realize that each chapter could be a book in itself, I feel that each is important to the journey toward inner knowing.

Chapter One looks at thresholds as portals into imaginal realms and orients you to the universal mind. This chapter sets a theoretical stage for the rest of the book, following with stories that make it come alive. It also gives examples of synchronicity, and ways of inviting it more fully into your life. It shows you how the psyche is not restricted by time constructs that we normally impose upon it in this time-bound, consensual reality. In this chapter we see how the psyche moves about freely in the thresholds of other-world realms, and how synchronicity then becomes a part of the journey once you have opened up to the energetic vibration that lives outside the linear way of being in the world.

The second chapter moves deeper into many dimensions of the psyche, which is home to the collective unconscious. You will see how see how the imaginal region of the psyche is one of the various dimensions through which you may travel as a pathway to the Self. It offers examples of how oracular consciousness works, it informs you of the importance of Carl G. Jung’s discovery of the collective unconscious, and the archetypal fields as threshold experiences. In this rich inner world you will be introduced to the archetypal field as paramount to understanding threshold states and how they actively influence us both in waking reality and dream life.
