About the Book

Introduction

America, the 21st Century. The world’s most admired legal system is falling apart, held together by Crazy Glue and a few good men and women who do their due diligence to uphold the laws of this nation. With expert analyses of DNA, many innocent people, when wrongly imprisoned due to misidentification or when witnesses commit perjury, have found greater recourse in fighting and righting the wrongs imposed upon them. Subsequently, many have been freed. However, Justice Impossible is the true story of a judicial conspiracy to deliberately deny George W. Humphreys, Sr. a basic constitutional right—"The right to a fair trial."

Unjustly arrested, without due process, he was harassed and harangued by a corrupt criminal justice system in Westmoreland County, PA, hanged with trumped-up charges, and financially bled to death until his family was devastated. Step by step, his story unfolds, with documents and affidavits that prove his innocence. His defense attorney never once tried to defend George -- never once objected to anything in court -- and would not admit evidence to vindicate his client. He wanted George to be convicted and imprisoned. Police officers, lawyers, and judge (and many more) saw opportunities for advancement -- at George’s expense.

About the Author

George Humphreys, Sr. (second from top right) was born in rural Pennsylvania, in 1943, the second oldest of four siblings, and grew up in McKeesport, a small town south of Pittsburgh. After graduation from McKeesport High School, Mr. Humphreys worked for many union and non-union contractors before establishing his own painting and wallpapering business in 1973.

In 1971 he married Bridget, and they became the proud parents of two sons. He started coaching baseball in 1979 (after playing fast-pitch softball himself), when George Jr. was 8 years old, and later owned and coached the McKeesport Cubs—a semi-pro team.

After the horrible debacle was put behind him, he restarted his business, which his sons have since joined. He continues to boat, fish and hunt with his sons and nephew, when not working.
