About the Book

I would like people to read my book Little Maid because it will educate them about how women in pastimes of war and poverty suffered a great deal.

Women did not have any rights any education or even a chance to live their childhood. I was forced to marry a man three times my age, as were other women of that time period in order to survive.

I also want people to become aware of how wartime drastically affects our lives. My book Little Maid will make everyone appreciate life more especially in this country as never before. All of my experiences have made me a stronger person. All of my pain made me want to become educated and better my life. I am also a painter.

About the Author

My name is Anna, I was born on the island of Crete Greece on October 10, 1929. I was very poor and suffered many hardships that most women will never experience in a lifetime.

Part of this was World War II right in my backyard. I lost my father at a young age. Since I was the oldest of four children I instantly became the head of the household. I was forced to leave school and become an adult at the age of nine.

A few years later, I was sent to Athens to work as a maid in the poorest cruelest conditions to support my family. I was imprisoned as a maid for eight years. My childhood was taken away and all of my dreams were shattered.
