About the Book

We are people of prayer.  Often prayer is a conversation or dialogue with God.  Sometimes, we are so busy speaking, we may not hear the answers.  This book of prayer-poems offers and suggests possible answers.  This book is a combination of inspiration and imagination.

Allow these words
to build self worth
to bring peace
to quiet worries
to comfort anxiety
to dispel guilts
to heal wounds
to inspire dreams
to soften anger
to strengthen the weary
to encourage the weak
to direct the wanderer
to rebuild a relationship
to affirm a friendship

This book of prayer-poems is a perfect little handbook to have beside us in our homes and in our workplaces.  Open it at random and allow these words to affirm, to comfort, to heal.  This book can be a timely gift for a person in need.  It also offers strength to those in ministry.  A priest, after a series of seminars and retreats, found himself exhausted and spiritually empty.  He found these writings to be theraputic for his heart, mind and soul.

For the tired or weary--
for the hurt or lonely--
for the angry or suspicious--

presenting these prayer-poems can become a new beginning.  God opens doors in many ways.  These simple child-like verses may be nourishment for the hungry, liquid for the thirsty.  For those who are in a desert spiritually, God waits to offer an oasis.

Dear Reader, may God bless you as you read this book.

As you read,
Breathe these words,
Feel the presence of God,
Be still, my love.

About the Author

Kathryn Scalise was born in 1934 in Akron, Ohio.  Her parents, Anthony and Anna provided Kathryn and her brother, Don, a solid loving home and childhood.  Kathryn attended Our Lady of the Elms High School and the University of Akron.  Through her affiliation with Delta Gamma Sorority have come life long friendships.

Kathryn married James Bernard Boles in 1956.  their thirty one years of marital bliss were rooted firmly in their priorities-- God, their marriage, the blessing of three daughters, Lori, Lisa and Jennifer.

Kathryn taught in the Catholic Schools, was a Girl Scout Leader, taught PSR, took an active part in church activities, prayer groups and Bible studies.  After her husband’s death due to a brave 10 year bout with leukemia, she was widowed in 1987.  She worked as a church receptionist and as a tour escort.

Currently she enjoys family, relatives, friends and volunteer work.  This book, a work of ten years, is a dream realized.  Kathryn hopes the book, a legacy for her family, will also serve as an example of perseverance for people of all ages.
