A radio sound bite barked, "Another flashback ‘80s hit-a-thon!" The distinct intro of The Eurythmics’ "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These)" came over the airwaves. Tim cranked it up and punched the gas. A voice came into Tim’s head. I like this song. Even for a head that was usually marooned on Fantasy Island, this voice was different. There was a fine line between fantasy and delusion, and either one could apply to Tim at that moment. He looked over at the passenger’s seat. Like a reflection on a window, Tim could trace the ghost of her body in the empty seat next to him. He could see every detail of her face, from the slope of her nose to the roundness of her lips. Her hair fell over her eyes, but the blush of her cheeks still showed through. The less he focused, the sharper his daydream appeared. Without actually hearing a sound, Heather’s voice filled his head. He kept the conversation going without saying a word. "Remember when this song was popular in college?" Tim said out loud. Her reply came into his mind. I was in grade school when this song came out, Grandpa. Let me guess, you danced to this at the disco in platform shoes. Heather flipped her hair as she spoke.
"I had platform shoes when I was in junior high. I don’t remember the fashion in college; it may have been Hawaiian shirts. And we didn’t call them discos in the ‘80s; they were called night clubs." Did you dance? "You might not have called it dancing if you had seen me, but yeah, I loved to dance."
