About the Author

Marlena Rose Skye is a poet living in the San Francisco bay area.  A collection of her poems has been published by Bristol Banner Books, 'Anthology of Poems 2001', 2002', and 2003'.  She has also been published by the Mitre 2001, Bishops University in Canada; Poet, An International Monthly in India, Parnassus of World Poets 2001, and World Poetry 2002 and 2003, also in India.  She won first prize for her poem 'Standing at the end of the Pacifica Pier/2000' in POPS (Preserve Our Pier Supporters) and first prize for 'A Mother's Gift' in the Positive Images of Aging Calendar Project by Senior Coastsiders in Half-moon Bay.  She received favorite entry for her poems 'Let Me Paint You a Picture' and 'Higgins Trail' and members' choice award for 'Riptide' in the Invitation to Coastside Poets in Pacifica.  She has also received 3rd place for her poem 'Dance of Joy' in the Artists Embassy International Dancing Poetry Contest which she read at the Palace Legion of Honor on 9-15-01.  She also received the great honor of being awarded Poet of the Millennium - 2000 by the International Poets Academy of India.
