About the Book
Restless as a youth, Kyle Mitchell leaves his
parents and their Ohio farm to drift and roam. As he travels, he makes friends
and learns new skills. One friend, an elderly lady who owns a horse ranch,
leaves him an inheritance which includes a well-bred stallion that becomes his
trusted companion.
Eager to travel where he has not been, he jumps at
the opportunity to join a wagon train setting out on the Oregon Trail. His
journey brings him more friends and new adventures. There are unexpected
enemies as well, who conspire to be rid of him before he even realizes what
their motives are.
Along the way, he develops a fondness for a girl.
The adventures they share, such as surviving a buffalo stampede, bring them
closer to each other. In time, it falls to him to lead the wagons during the
final part of their journey.
Will he settle down in Oregon with the girl he loves?
Will he be able to resist the impulse to wander and drift again, and see places
he’s never been before? Will he ever make it back home? What further exciting
adventures await “The Dreaming Drifter”?
About the Author
Glenda McRae grew up on a farm in Oklahoma. She
began writing in her early teens, first in response to school assignments, then
later for the enjoyment of writing. She currently resides in Oklahoma with her
husband and their two teenage sons. Her younger son provided the cover artwork
for The Dreaming Drifter.
She has had two novels published: To Marry a
Stranger and Pledges in the West. The former was serialized in the
magazine Capper’s before being
published in book form. She firmly believes there is a market for the type of
books she writes...romantic adventures with western settings that are wholesome
but not preachy, and that are free of profanity and excess violence.
