About the Book
In Love, War and Other White Lies, Tony presents two
separate diaries. One deals mostly with
love and general topics. The second
covers the Iraqi War and other subjects.
Tony’s approach is humorous, sarcastic and serious all in different
measure. Tony wants to open peoples’
minds to the other possible reasons for war and entertain the reader with his
love poetry and other poetry. Tony
wants the reader to see the parallels between the white lies we tell in our relationships
to avoid “hurting” the other person, and the “small” lies our government tells
us because “they know better”. Tony
believes if one looks at the Communist scare of the 1950’s and compares that to
the Terrorist scare of today, we need to examine our foreign
policy to see if we are being fair to everyone. Just as in the 1950’s, those who have
different views are being seen as less patriotic or sympathizers. Tony would like to say “freedom of
expression is the true litmus test of a free society,” and the degree of
freedom matches the tolerance to express oneself – freely. Tony believes the “true” patriot protects
the right of free expression for all Americans. God Bless America.
