About the Book
Soren, a child of Earth parents, is three and a half
years old when brutal raiders kidnap her brother and two other young boys. Her
only lead is a leather braid with strange symbols embossed on it she took off
one of the warriors.
Embracing the wild and bloody nature of the uncharted
planet, the survivors are known as the Seva Te, produce only girls, and win the
respect of all tribes but one-the Shuntons.
Years later, Soren hears a word only her brother used
in magic tricks and follows it to its source. With her slave Tak, she journeys
far from the safety of her desert home, over snowcapped mountains, and jungles
ruled by 'the little people of the forest', leaving word to be delivered to her
sisters in hope they will follow.
She finds there is more to her chemical make-up than
she knew when by accident a drop of her blood gives life back to a dying war
dog and youth to an old blind man who diligently guards his secret past, but
knows her brother's whereabouts.
Her sisters fail to join her and she fears their nemesis, the Shuntons, have something to do with it.
