About the Book

Every athlete relishes the opportunity to hit the grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning in game seven of the World Series, to catch that 'hail Mary' pass for the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl, or to make that 15 foot jump shot to score the winning basket with the title on the line.  If the ball clears the fence, the pass caught or the basket made, the player is elevated to hero or folklore status.  If the athlete fails, all of the blame falls on his/her shoulders.  The consequence of the loss however, no matter how dramatic, is typically – 'wait till next year'.  But what if the loss meant no more baseball... forever.  In July 2000, Martians challenge the greatest players of our era to a true World Series.  Win just one game, and the Martians peacefully return to their world.  Lose all three games and baseball will never be played on Earth again.  Can the Martians be beaten?  Will Earth have the passion, insight and ability to overcome the Martians physical strength, preparation and trickery?  The answer lies in Home Field Advantage, a light hearted tale of two baseball worlds colliding.

About the Author

It is no wonder that baseball is and will forever be our country's national pastime.  The game itself instills pride, hope and tradition, more so than any other sport this side of the Atlantic.  As a young boy growing up in Newark, New Jersey, Gary developed a passion for baseball at a very early age.  It didn't hurt that the Yankees were the home town team or that Mickey Mantle won the Triple Crown in 1956, the year he was born.  Whether it was having a catch with his dad, playing stickball in the street or a real game of baseball at the park, putting on the glove made all of life's problems disappear.  Even today, when taking his daughters to the stadium, Gary still brings his glove, hoping that the magic of baseball will cause one of the many allusive foul balls to find a permanent home at Gary's Wall of Fame.  Home Field Advantage will hopefully continue to foster the spirit of baseball for generations to come.
