About the Author

Bessie Frazier was born in Brooklyn, New York.  She attended Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, and majored in English and Sociology.  While at Fisk, she became a member of the Fisk Writer’s Workshop, under John Oliver Kellens.

A year after graduating from Fisk, she received a M.A. degree from Montclair State College in New Jersey.  She completed post graduate work at Brooklyn College and New York University.  She is the author of poems, stories, plays and raps, and has performed for schools, colleges, churches and special interest groups receiving standing ovations.  Her work has appeared  in anthologies, magazines and the Amsterdam News.  She has been featured in who’s Who in the East and received countless letters of praise from electrified readers.
