Have You Ever
Have you ever asked yourself what
it is that makes you you,
Do you ask yourself if you’ve done all that you can do,
Have you ever woken early in the middle of the week,
Just to open up your front door, go out and take a peek,
At all the beauty and the color of another brand new day,
Have you ever felt the crisp air as it tingles on your face,
Or stood there until you caught a glimpse or just a little taste,
Of how everything in nature always seems to be in place,
Have you ever stood atop a mountain and looked at valleys far below,
And wondered if the Lord in Heaven will ever let you know,
By what thought or inspiration that he invented this creation,
Have you ever eaten chocolate and wished you’d gotten more,
Or had a fresh baked apple pie too tasty to not adore,
Have you ever looked up at the stars or even looked down at your feet,
And wondered what the new day would bring or the people you would meet,
Have you ever wondered what is out there just beyond your point of view,
Are you right or just confused about what it is that you must do,
To become a better person, honest, chaste and true,
Have you ever knelt and asked for guidance,
And the strength to last another day,
Or thought about all the things that make life worth living anyway,
Have you ever climbed a mountain just to prove you could make it that high,
Or jumped out of an airplane with a chute to feel what it’s like to fly,
Have you ever seen the Savior, as you close your eyes to say goodnight,
And offer up a prayer for all those who’re in his sight,
Have you ever tasted victory or felt the pain of a defeat,
One taste’s sweet as honey, the other’s hard to eat,
Have you ever lived your life the way you always dreamed you would,
And never looked back ‘cause you wouldn’t change a moment if you could,
There is one thing more important in life than possibly all others,
It’s more important than money, fame, or any other earthly bothers,
More important than the air we breathe or even than the food we eat,
More important than our dreams and goals,
Most important to our immortal souls,
Have you ever asked yourself or the Father up above,
If you have done all you can to gain his ever-lasting love,
And if you have then you have asked the most important thing of all,
Keep the faith and live it right and you shall never fall.
