About the Book

In Day by Day Living with Epilepsy, Ralph V. Brooks narrates his life experience with epilepsy through personal essays, educational articles and a collection of poems and children’s poetry.  With a desire to influence and educate the general public about this medical condition, he provides information about care and treatment, safety precautions, and the difficult life decisions that face those with epilepsy.

He supports people who have epilepsy by demonstrating his leadership in the workplace as well as in his community, including his ongoing involvement with youth sports activities, first as a player and now as a coach.  He shows by example how a person with epilepsy can lead a normal, fulfilling and rewarding life.  His hope is that workplaces, athletic venues, schools and other educational institutions will use this book to enlighten the public about epilepsy.

Day by Day Living with Epilepsy will hopefully give each reader a sense of hope that they can reach their potential and lead productive lives no matter what obstacles they may face.

Thomas L. Orth, Executive Director of the Epilepsy Services of West Central Florida, says it is refreshing to have an individual talk from his heart about his life experiences.
