Vampyre: The Second Reign

Dacius looked around the room for a moment, and then he spoke, “My fellow clan leaders, the answer is obvious. We just need to utilize a better life force to replenish our own.” Oramus and the other clan leaders sat there quietly with puzzled looks on their faces. Dacius then explained how he and his clansmen had experienced a sudden burst of vigor from killing and feasting on the blood of barbarians, human blood. He stated that it almost instantly re-energized them. Dacius followed his explanation with a demonstration. He sent for one of the prisoners. When the prisoner was brought to the chamber, Dacius presented him to Oramus. The room was completely silent except for the fearful panting of the barbarian. Oramus looked at the clan leaders, and as each of them gave him a slight nod of affirmation, he turned slowly and sank his fangs deep into the neck of the barbarian.

Oramus could feel his energy being restored as life drained from the body of the barbarian. The clan leaders watched as Oramus transformed from the tired, lifeless being he was when they arrived to the vigorous being who now stood before them. When Oramus had drained the last drop of life from the barbarian, he threw back his head and shouted, “Now let’s rid our land of the awful vermin that defile it!”
