ALL ABOARD FAMILY VACATION PLANNER

You know what it’s like having a family – the laundry, the vast number of shoes, the socks that got away, the talking-all-at-once gab sessions, the lack of time to do it all.

Once the travel bug bit me the first time, I presumed I could plan it all in a day, amid the clutter of my kitchen, and the sticky hands of five sweet children under the age of 10. When, for instance, I was on the phone trying to get prices for a rental property, I was stopped in my tracks because I heard one or more voices cooing loudly for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, one of the kids spilled her milk and I ended up wiping up the floor with the travel notes I had made in crayon on the back of a napkin.

From one parent to another, I want to help make your next vacation the best ever. On every trip my husband Bob and I and our five children take, I learn something new and jot it down. I have pages of scribbles and folders brimming with ideas, organizing tips, and vacation destinations.

Before you even get the first inkling to take your family on a trip, and long before the suitcases are packed and you hit the road, let me save you some time.

We’ve compiled a “hit-and-run-with-it” book, with useful tear-out pages that will take you from the first step in planning your vacation, to kicking your shoes off at the beach, to savoring the memories long after the fun.

I wrote this book to share some of the pitfalls and triumphs our family has encountered. My hope is that our book will inspire all family members to participate in the overall vacation experience, reduce costs, and take the frustration out of planning for the trip coordinator.

We also hope our book gives parents the tools to teach their children how to plan and organize. If you’re thinking, “My kids will just fight the whole time,” it doesn’t have to be that way. We’ve found that our trips have been worth all the effort, because we gain patience and learn and grow together. When I hear my kids tell us how much they value our vacations together, it’s better than Disney World.

We also want to offer some of our favorite family traditions, devotions and memories.
