PGA Professional and American College of Sports Medicine certified trainer Jon Corliss captured the 2003Virginia State Open Championship in dramatic fashion and attributed his victory in large part to the intense fitness program employed over the past few years. Playing against the 160 best golfers in Virginia, Corliss, 46, birdied the 73rd hole to defeat 28 year-old tour player Paul Scaletta by one stroke.
Jon Corliss has been a PGA professional for 13 years and an American College of Sports Medicine Health Fitness Instructor for three years. He has played in numerous Tour events, including the 1986 Kemper Open at Congressional and the 1999 Michelob Championship at Kingsmill. Corliss teaches at Heron Ridge Golf Club in Virginia Beach, VA and helped Sue Vreeland establish The Virginia Beach Golf Academy.
Additionally, Corliss earned certification from the Advantage School of Golf Fitness in Annapolis, MD.
