Secrets of My Heart

My writing comes primarily from life experiences.  My poems reflect the joy and happiness I’ve felt over the years as well as the heartaches and heart breaks.  Relationships and the struggle to keep them alive , and the pleasure and pain they bring.  The break-ups, the make-ups, the endless effort to keep my life in balance with mankind and myself.  They explore my quest to find a soulmate with whom to spend the rest of my life.  They contemplate the deepest and innermost thoughts of my mind in relation to love.

Karl Woods is a native Californian who grew up in Los Angeles, Ca.  He is a self-taught poet and began to write in his late teens.  Karl found that writing was a

productive way for him to express himself during the revolutionary 60’s.  He felt it was more passive to write about the events in his life than to “act out” some of the drama as so many teens did during that particular era.

Over the past few years as Karl began the preparation to publish a book of his poems, he tested the waters by entering poetry contests.  After three of his poems were published in three different books--he needed no further inspiration to pursue bringing his book of poems to life.

After many years of traveling the country looking for “the perfect place to live”, Karl has concluded that California truly is his home.  He now lives, works and fulfills his writing passion in the San Diego area.
