About the Book

It is just after the turn of the century, late autumn in Northern Wisconsin and another lumbering season is about to begin.  Soon the camps will be filled with men to do the winter harvest, while their families try to continue the social affairs of the little village. Into this mix comes a mysterious stranger, unfamiliar with life in the Wisconsin wilderness.  Before long he is enmeshed in the lives of this hardy class of people and faced with weighty decisions about love and loyalty.  If he can survive his days in a lumber camp and sort out the feelings in his heart, he may just have a chance for romance before his past catches up to him.

About the Author

K. Wallin was raised in a small town in Northern Wisconsin, once a whistle stop along the Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Paul & Omaha railroad and a shipping point for logging operations in the vicinity.  As a child he played in the remnants of the logging era, building a fort in the old lumber train roundhouse and hunting along the old railroad grades and logging trails.  While performing research for the town’s centennial book in 1984, he became enamored of the story of the people; the loggers, the farmers and tradesmen that had carved this village out of the wilderness.  In “A Lumbertown Tale” he brings this story to life; the drama, the hardships, the joys and the sorrows.
