I turned at the sound of thunder that echoed through the garage and instinctively arched down at the blast. It was lucky for me that I did, as a piece of hard metal grazed down the left side of my face and hit my collarbone with almost full force. I stumbled back from the blow, hitting the back of a car. If it weren’t for that I would have been at the ground, on the killing floor.
Warm blood was stinging my eyes as I tried to focus in on the figure that was coming at me again. I spun around just as another blow came crashing down, splitting through the car’s window, setting off its alarm. The sound ripped through the underground garage, echoing through the darken structure. The figure hesitated for a second to look back at the exit then lunged at me with his arm raised. That second of delay was all I needed to slide out my Glock.
Blood pumped from the gash on my forehead and I felt myself going out, but not before I got a shot off. Somewhere between the alarm and dizziness I heard a metal pipe drop and saw the figure of a man running up the ramp. I fired off a couple of more shots at the figure and then slumped against a pylon to the concrete floor. I felt water underneath my free hand and I slapped some of it on my face. I was struggling to stay conscious. I staggered up to the ramp and peered around the corner of the garage wall. I stumbled more than walked out from the garage into the rain, with my gun still drawn.
“She tapped into your phone, tapped into mine, and set us both up.” I looked out to the
Time was running out for Lewis. It was getting late. I saw the emotionless decision in his eyes as a yacht filled with party goers ambled close to the dock behind him. I looked over to Janero. He read the warning in my eyes. “You know Lewis, some of us or all of us are already dead.” Lewis’ face became lifeless cold. He unbuttoned his suit coat and began pulling his piece form its holster. “Is that right? Well, unfortunately your prophecy will begin with you and your partner.”
I lunged at Janero and pushed his head down, pulling him to the floor as a horn sounded from the pleasure cruiser. Claude Lewis and his gunmen spun around to look in the direction of the yacht. Their stare was met by three simultaneous silent shots that tore through their bodies, throwing them backwards into the darkness. I looked over to Janero. He was in pain from the jostling as I crawled over him and grabbed his collar, pulling him between the chairs of the amphitheater. A voice from a bullhorn on the yacht called my name and told me to stay were I was. I then heard booted voices rushing into the darkened amphitheater. I looked up and could tell by the sweeping beams of searching light, that they had light mounted rifles in their hands.
