About the Book

Delena has a secret...

Delena seems like a typical teenage girl. Everyone who knows her likes her. She’s smart, she’s pretty, and she’s friendly. Most parents would love to have a daughter just like her. But she has a secret...

At the start of her senior year of high school, she’s offered a great opportunity - to be part of an exchange student program, attending a high school far away from home ... She travels to New Jersey, where she stays with a family she never met before. She likes the family a lot, and they seem to really like her ... but she has to be careful not to tell them her secret...

Things couldn’t be better - that is, until everything starts to go wrong! All her carefully made plans and preparations start to fall apart. Now, she’s faced with some major problems, and the harder she tries to fix them, the worse things get. She can’t communicate with her family, and can’t get back home!

Delena is stuck in a strange place, surrounded by strangers, facing the hardest problems she’s ever faced in her life ... and she still has to keep that big secret...

About the Author

Tom started writing at a very early age. His vivid imagination has fueled many stories, both long and short. But it wasn’t until his children were born that he began writing stories for “young people.” He began writing short stories that included his family members as the main characters, and were based on events or incidents that occurred in their real lives.

The story of Delena, obviously, is a work of pure fiction. However, the characters in the story are closely based on Tom’s family, and many of the events in the story are based on situations that actually occurred. All other characters or events are fictitious.

Tom, his wife, and three children live near the shore, in New Jersey.
