“THE WAY OF LIFE”
I’ve lived my life a mountain man
in the mountains is where I’ll stay,
there is hope to help us live
and I’ll choose no other way.
I want to live my life as I have begun
and take it one day at a time,
this back woods farmer is a joyful one
and this way of life is mine.
So I’ll kneel down on my knees
and have a few words with God,
when these ole bones have drawn the line
please place me beneath this mountain mans sod.
“A DYING TRADITION”
Taking time back when you could
trust a mans word by shaking his hand,
when a good team of horses
and a hard working fellow farmed the land
Pride was taken in the farm
and the keeping of her beauty,
so the tradition would linger on
for the farmers to be.
Men in those days could take the heat
and the labor,
so boys in these days would have
memories to favor.
But where are the boys to keep
the memories alive,
and show a bit of gratitude
for those who made it thrive.
When an aged farmer looks back
and tears fall from his face,
try to understand he feels the hurt
of what has been erased.
To many empty barns and crumbling houses
is a shame to even mention,
and sorry are the hearts of the boys
who let it become a dying tradition.

About the Book
“Country Deluxe” came into the making in 1987, while riding my horse on the mountain where I grew up. However, “Yesteryear Forever” and “Mistaken Love” was written for two of my sisters, they are a bit different from the other poems I have written. “Country Deluxe” was completed in 1993 and set tucked away in a closet, coming across it once more, I thought now’s the time to do something with it, after all – nothing beats a failure except a try. Most of the pictures are taken where I grew up, this book truly, expresses my love for farming and the mountain life. All my hopes and long time dream of getting published has finally happened. I hope it becomes a success and others will get the same heart felt feelings that I put into it, especially our “American Farmers.” Hope you enjoy and God Bless!

About the Author
I was born June 15 – 1962, moved to the mountains of Champion PA. in 1968. I am the fourth of ten children, happily married with two of my own. My love for having my own business is just about complete, which consists of gunsmithing, leather, small engine repair, bronzing, imprinting gifts and photography shop. With my unending love for horses I received an award for horsemanship and became a farrier in 1981 and have been since.
I have eight horses now, they keep me as busy as children, in order to take good care of these beauties I successfully took up veterinarian assistance.
My hobbies are playing guitar, collecting antiques, reading old books, bluegrass and country music and last but not least, my 1975 ford hi-boy!
