A Parenting Guide Book is intended to assist parents and others who are involved in the important job of helping to raise and educate children. Children are our greatest resource; they are our future and an extension of parents. Having quality parental involvement in the early stages of a child’s life is crucial and paramount to the growth and development of successful adults.


About the Author

Dr. Willie J. Kimmons is a career educator, former classroom teacher, professor, dean, vice president, college interim president and chancellor in public schools, two and four-year colleges and universities. Currently, he is an Educational Consultant for Pre-K-16 schools, Title I Schools, Parents and motivational speaker. Dr. Kimmons is a parent of four adult children, two girls and two boys and five grandchildren, three granddaughters and two grandsons.

He is a frequent writer of educational and parenting articles for two local Daytona Beach, Florida newspapers, Daytona Beach News Journal and the Daytona Times. He has co-hosted a local community radio program, WPUL Radio 1590 AM, Daytona Beach, Florida titled “Express Yourself-The Voice for the Voiceless.” In addition to numerous appearances on television shows as PBS, Channel 58, Research Park, North Carolina, addressing parent, children, teacher and educational issues, Channel 13 Cablevision of Charlotte, North Carolina addressing “Parental Involvement”, Crisis of the Black Male and the Black Family”, and Channel 11, WRAL-TV, “Urban Scene”, Baltimore, Maryland— “Educating and Rearing Urban Children.”

His interest in education stems from a background of training and experience in the area of human development, leadership and community service. He is always eager to promote learning and development of the student by setting the atmosphere to motivate not only the student, but also all individuals within the student’s educational arena.

He has spent his entire career getting to the root of and understanding the nature of today’s students’ issues. He has successfully dealt with many of the challenges of today’s parents and students throughout his career as a professional educator. His life’s ambition is to promote the survival and progress of education, and continue his commitment and dedication to parents, teachers and children.
