OFFERING TIME
Arms were waving, high in the air
Feet were stomping, while sitting in a chair
Hands were clapping, hard and fast
Music was playing, how long could this last?
Folks shouting, all over the floor
Preachers sweating, ushers standing at the door
Babies were crying, been here to long
Parents’ were acting like there was nothing wrong
Choir was singing, hollering in the mike
People were standing seating was tight
Service had reached an overwhelming height
When the trustee said, “It’s giving time alright?”
A hush fell over the congregation fast
I knew that hollering and shouting wouldn’t last
But those who were mature in their faith and living
Knew that worship also included giving!
Our Do’s
Weekends in the kitchen
Meant more than coffee and tea
Mama was a hairdresser
She greatly influenced me
Curly irons, pressing combs
The use of Bergamot grease
Applied to each hair strand
Would make that hair so neat
We’re women of many styles
Us black sista’s of the
Our do’s reflect our inner self
Whether it’s tracked, glued
Or made from wefts
Upsweeps, french rolls, ponytails, weaves
Twisties, curly curls
There’s a style that suits your needs
Braids, plaits, dreads too
Straight or natural
The style is up to you
Our styles can change as often as we do
From cornrows to perms, tain’t nothing new
No matter what your choice of hair “do”
Your style certainly is an expression of you
So pick your do’s, make them whatever you like
You’re a woman of color
And chil’ your “do” must be right!

About the Book
Have you ever had an experience in life or made an observation that you just wanted to say something about? Me too. You probably just thought about it, and decided to keep your thoughts to yourself. About the Author
Sandra is an unmistakably blessed child of God. She is the youngest of five children, the mother of one, the grandmother of two and the surrogate mother to many. By profession, she is an educator and a licensed cosmetologist. She enjoys many things. Interacting with people and traveling being at the top of the list. It’s through her experiences in these areas that she has written this book. She acknowledges Jesus as her Lord and Savior, who has blessed her always, and in all ways.
