The Greatest Archeological Find
Sometime in the far future, when the Humankind no longer exists on Earth, a new race will evolve to the top of the intelligence scale. With cities and countries in existence, there still will be a wonder of the past.
In the year of two thousand six, their technology is equivalent to what humanity had in the nineteen nineties. In an archaeologist site, near an ancient building, a brother and sister are among the top scientists of this curiosity, in this case they found something that may or not link them to humanity, a stone tablet of sorts.
Koan, scratches his furred face, then his furred pointed left ear, blankly looks at the stone tablet. “Okay Anira, I give. What’s it say?”
Tickled at the find, “I don’t know, but it just has to be among the most fascinating archaeological find of the decade.”
“But will it help us to know about the race that existed before us?”
Still tickled, “I really don’t know.”
Koan laughs then gets closer to Anira’s ear, and asks, “So, what do you know?”
“That this tablet is more than half my height, and it’s part of a larger one.”
Koan grins, “I mean, that I don’t know. My brilliant, but static-headed sister.”
“Oh, okay.” She says teasingly. Then switches to a more distinct, sensible and professional tone, “I can truthfully say, despite its stone, they were advanced, but if I were to guess, I would claim that it was part of this building. A sign built in this building, maybe.”
“You think it could be just a fancy ‘hello, welcome to our building’ type of thing?”
Turning to him, she more states than asks, “Why not?”
“Well, I suppose I can’t deny the possibility, looking at that stone, it looks like it could have originally shone.” He points to one of the symbols and continues, “Look at that, it does look if you dusted it, it would shine, like it was polished.”
Anira impressed, “Incredible. Who were these people, and what happened to them?”
“Hopefully something good, because of the mess in our world, which includes nuclear warfare, it’d be nice to have some hope.” Anira grinned and nodded.
In the background someone calls them, they turn and see someone wave them over.
Walking up to him is a slightly grayed haired fellow whose name is Lwenshon Kenshaw, Koan asks, “Find something? I’m hoping.”
“Trust me. Professors Tyn and Tyn, I think I found a way in.”
Anira’s eyes light brightly, “Lwenny, I could kiss you.”
Lwenshon smiles, “You keep calling me Lwenny, you can forget it young lady. You seem a tad jubilant over this.”
“Just like our dad.”
“No kidding. Tickled and child like.”
Acting like he’s impatient, Koan states smiling, “Well? Let’s see what we can see.”
Lwenshon, “This way, thirty temms.”
They walk some distance for them and stops at a “man-made” hole, several times their height, it looks like a doorway, with big search lights shining in it, that has stairs, and each step is a little less than half Koan’s height, who is the tallest by a small bit.
Koan’s eyes widen and his mouth slightly drops, “How tall are these people?! It looks like about thirty BIG steps.”
Anira laughs, “You’ve seen pictures of their steps before, and knew the sizes of several types.”
Still quite amazed, softly, “I know, but come on!”
“No disagreement here. This is a little overwhelming though.”
Lwenshon, “I’ve been on a few dozen of your father’s excavations, and some had stairs, and I’ll tell you right now,” he turns to them and sets his claw like hand on Koan’s shoulder. “I have yet to get used to this. I am wondering; however, why aren’t there any ramps. In other sites, there were ramps.”
“Maybe it’s buried.” Anira wonders, while glancing around.
Koan and his sister turn to their father’s old friend, “It’s a shame dad’s nursing a cold, he’d love this.”
“Yep,” Lwenshon grins. “If given the chance, he’d ask ‘What cold?’”
Koan quickly glances back and forth at the two, “Well? Let’s go already.”
Koan turning toward the quite lit up tunnel, and jumps down the first step, with Anira startled.
“Koan, Be careful.”
Looking up at his sister, “I assure you, I’m less careless than I’m apparently showing. Trust me.” He ends with a wink, and Anira chuckles and shakes her head. Koan then turns back toward the hole, and jumps to the next step, then the next, and moves closer to the edge of that one and leans over and glares down. He turns back up to his increasingly excitable sister, and waves.
“How’s the weather up there?”
Anira, “Fine, fine, fine. I don’t think you should....”
