Salmon cop a feel...
After a hard day at the office there is nothing better than hitting the old fishing hole to relax. Besides with a little luck you might just catch something and get to take out your frustrations killing the crap out of it!!
In
Standing beside my truck, parked just on the side of the road, I ripped off my cubicle jockey suit and jumped into my waders. Of course the waders, fly rod, vest, net, and insect repellent were in the truck. One never goes anywhere without those items. Especially the bug spray!
Anyway, I hiked downstream to my favorite holding pool and waded in up to my chest. God I love glacier runoff! Nothing like 38 degree water to get the old blood pumping!
I started to cast. Cast and retrieve. Cast and retrieve...Nothing! I couldn''t even get anything to rise. It couldn''t possibly be that that I don''t know how to fish. I do. Change flies, that''s the answer! Cast and retrieve. Cast and retrieve...Oh well I have completely forgotten about the sucky day I was having a few hours ago!
An eagle swooped right up the creek, over my head and landed in a tree over looking the water about 200 yards away. I continue to cast and retrieve. The eagle mocks me by leaping from its perch and snatching up a trout no more that 100 yards from me! Ah ha! There are fish in this damn creek!
I cast again and I feel something rub against my leg! I look down to see if a branch has drifted downstream and caught on my waders only to find that an entire
I fished for another hour with nary a bite. That''s all I really remember about that terrible day. There is nothing like getting felt up by a Ho. A Coho that is!!!

years my wife and I had dreamt of fishing in Alaska Sure we had done a lot of fishing and hunting down south but there was a burning desire to risk life and limb to catch or hunt something that might just end up having us for lunch instead! Every year for five years we went to the Denver Sportsman’s show and lusted after those mighty salmon and halibut, finally we decided that enough was enough. We were going to do it! But if we were going to do it we might as well do it right. We decided, “Yeah we could spend $5000.00 on a two week fishing trip or we could spend the same amount and just move there!” Here we are! This book contains the tales of our adventures in the GreatSometimes we catch fish and sometimes it really is about the experience.
