About the Book
The circle of life is made up of spaces in people’s lives & things from out past, and present experiences which combine to make us individual characters.
There is a dark space in all of us. It is the place we avoid going, where we put secrets, deep pain, regrets and shame. Exactly what fills that space is an individual thing, but in families, it can become a shared ‘secret’-something nobody dares to talk about. Lies, deceit, adultery, illegal acts, fear, pain and sexual traumas (such as incest, molestation, or rape), or things we regret having done while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and the memory of many other things can take up space within you, and become a dark spot in your heart and soul.
What is your dark space?
How long are you going to leave it there?
About the Author
Grace Hedenquist has been writing since she was nine years old. She wrote in two diaries. One she kept hidden from her abusive foster father. The other one she left where she knew he would find it. Her real feelings and emotions were in the one she hid. She learned at an early age to escape into writing.
Grace’s poetry has been published in seven books this past year (2003-2004): The Colors of Life, A Treasury of American Poetry, Prominent Voices in Poetry, Great Poems of the Western World, Eternal Portraits, International Who’s Who In Poetry, and Best Poems and Poets of 2004. Her poetry was also featured on an audio-cd, Sounds of Poetry.
She has been a Licensed Practical Nurse for thirty-six years. She has been a surgical scrub nurse, and worked in numerous hospitals, nursing homes, and doctor’s offices. For fifteen years, she did private duty nursing, taking care of medically fragile, brain-injured children. She created over five hundred books that met the individual physical and educational needs for those children. They were unable to attend school due the severity of their disabilities.
Besides her extensive medical career, she has also worked in a factory, been a sales representative/copy-writer for a radio station, and been a waitress. She has an orange belt in karate, and knows American Sign Language.

Despite many personal life traumas, including six broken marriages, she gives glory to God for enabling her to have the faith, strength and knowledge, to accomplish the things she has so far. Her writing reflects her ability to be triumphant in spirit.
Grace’s interests and hobbies, (besides writing and reading), include crocheting, gardening, golf, college basketball (Gonzaga University fan), herbal medicine, and a variety of creative crafts (such as wreath making, floral arranging polymer clay, tea bag folding, beadery, corn husk dolls, and seashell crafts.)
In the future, she plans to stay working with Special Ed children, but will also continue writing. She has plans for several more books.
