He hadn’t gone but a short distance when a fast moving light appeared overhead in front of his car. The lights were rotating in a circular manner and appeared to be red, green, white and blue.
He couldn’t make out the shape of whatever it was he was seeing. It went upward for a while, then back over his car. He lost sight of it again and sat in the car for another five minutes to be sure it wouldn’t reappear.
The next one half mile seemed to take an hour as Randall’s mind went back and forth between the experience he’d just witnessed and how he was going to explain it to Betty Ann. He knew she didn’t believe his stories about his UFO adventures, but he couldn’t tell anyone else about it. They’d never believe it for sure.
At home, he was very anxious and excited. He walked onto the deck where his telescope was set up and gazed into the sky from one side to the other, hoping to catch a glimpse of anything moving. A commercial jet, with lights blinking, caused Randall’s heart to race for a moment. He realized it was a plane and turned the telescope to another section of the sky.
After an hour or so, he decided he had to get some sleep. Sleep was slow in coming that night as Randall lay gazing toward the ceiling and trying to make some sense of it all. Deciding he couldn’t discuss it with anyone right now, he managed to get about three hours of sleep.
The phone rang early the next morning. His girlfriend, Betty Ann, was asking him why he didn’t answer the phone last night. Randall explained that he was on his deck with his telescope until late.
“Randall, you haven’t called me for days.”
“I’ve been busy.”
“Your mother tells me your fascination with those silly so-called space ships is taking up a lot of your time.”

The supposed dreams are now affecting Randall physiologically. His mind drifted when driving the taxi. He seemed to lose his very concentration when talking to friends and family.
Randal didn’t want to think they were anything but dreams. He didn’t tell Betty Ann and or any of his friends about the second dream for several weeks.
The customary league bowling night came, and Jonathan was very concerned about Randall. He was also concerned about Randall’s bowling game since it wasn’t up to par.
During the game, Randall kept pulling at his shoe, like it was bothering him. He shrugged it off and continued the matches.
Back at home that night Randall was watching a movie he had rented on the way home. He was enjoying the movie, both legs folded under him on the couch.
He felt a pain in the bottom of his right heel and turned his foot to look at it. What he saw was a mark, oval in shape, and strangely silver in color. He examined the mark for a while and tried to remember why he hadn’t seen it before.
A terrifying thought raced through his mind. In his dream, he remembered the creature examining him. He thought, “No, this can’t be happening. It was just a dream”. Even though the mark bothered him, he decided to keep it quiet because everyone would surely think he’d lost his mind.
Randall took a sleep-aid medication before going to bed that night. He lay in bed for an hour or so before going to sleep. His mind had wandered from one thought to another, all of them related to the supposed dream and the mark on his heel.
