The voice was that of one I know
The words I heard were unexpected
They broke my heart, I felt rejected
It must be me, I felt inside
I failed somehow, but how I tried
I can’t control what others do
Their actions and their choices too
I could not solve the issues here
For they were way outside my sphere
My life, I had it all planned out
That call, it made me start to doubt
All the things I thought I knew
Those things I thought that I could do
My shoulders need not be so broad
I need to let go and give it all to God
Looking back, for now I see
That call was not the end of me
That day I learned a special lesson
It was my faith that God was testin’
Who will you serve?
Each time you wake
The choices are many
The consequences are great
To serve yourself
Is a common thought
You think your deserving
But your soul has been bought
You might choose the world
And all of its ways
Seems like a good choice
Until the end of your days
You could choose God
The creator of all
He sees what you’re doing
Will you answer His Call?
Who will you choose?
Next time you wake
The implications are profound
Your eternity is at stake!
The day you stand before God in the sky
You’ll no longer have your material possessions
The comfort of your personal obsessions
The cars, the house, and the toys you loved
All those are gone when you’re called above
And what about those things you can’t hold
Your title and status, the stories you told
The movies you watched, the choices you made
The songs you sang, the games you played
Think about these things before this day
So you can know what you will say
What will you say the day you die
The day you stand before God in the sky

About the Book
Awaken Your Spirit is a collection of poetry that provides a God inspired practical look at everyday life and the choices we make. Challenges, decisions and expectations of daily life are presented in a straight forward fashion calling attention to our choices while providing hope and assurance of God’s presence on this earth. God is always available if we choose Him.
It is the prayer of the author that this collection will provide a sense of peace and cause self reflection led by the Holy Spirit to bring those who know God closer to Him and those who don’t an awakening which they don’t know.
About the Author
Julie is a successful business professional by the standards of the world. Her climb up the corporate ladder has been steady and her personal accomplishments are many. With each new accomplishment came the expectation of fulfillment and personal happiness. With each new accomplishment came the disappointment of not finding fulfillment, an empty ache existed.
This collection is an outgrowth of God leading Julie on an incredible journey reveling thoughts, emotions, ideas, and expectations through poetry. He has drawn on her corporate experience and illustrates differences between God’s Kingdom Values and the world in which we all live. These poems are simple, yet profound. They offer hope, reflection and guidance for all who wonder about life.
