Blast From Her Past

Getting back into the bar was difficult. It was very crowded and no one wanted to give an inch of space to let Rita through. It reminded her of the experience that she had earlier in the day and she decided that this time she wasn’t going to be intimidated by anyone. There was too much at stake.

Time was passing too quickly and she didn’t have very much information to bring back to Tracy. She had some new insight into Angie and while she didn’t have time to fully grasp what her involvement was, she knew that her friend wasn’t who she thought she was. For sure, Fred Meyers wasn’t who she thought he was. Eli was going to be home a little after midnight and the last thing she wanted was for him to get involved with this mess. After all, the First Lady would be missed and eventually this would have to be resolved one way or another.

As Rita inched her way towards the bar and the drunken Senator, she tried to keep an eye out for Angie. There was no excuse she could give for why she was at this club dressed like a hooker. Rita kept her face toward the wall and finally reached the crowded bar. The Senator’s laugh was loud and unmistakable. She took a deep breath and slipped behind him, rubbing her bosom on his back. He turned around, and looked directly at her breasts.

She picked his chin up playfully and said, “Hey, darlin’, I am ready for that dance you promised me.”

“Sure, honey, but I think you’re gonna have to lead.”

As Rita walked the wobbly statesman to the dance floor, he fell to the side and caught himself before he hit the ground. He had to use the table to steady himself. Rita caught sight of a small black book that must have fallen out of the Senator’s jacket. She bent down quickly to pick it up. Hidden by a chair, she was able to stuff the book into her garter belt. She looked around to see if anyone caught her in the act when she locked eyes with the queen. A mean smirk creased the cross-dresser’s face and Rita knew that she was busted. “I’ve got to get out of here fast,” she thought.

She hurried to catch up with the Senator. He looked back and yelled, “Where are you, Bubbles? They’re playing our song,” and let out a good old boy howl as the band played a cha cha version of ‘Strangers in the Night.’ “You’ve got to hold it up – I mean me. You’ve got to hold me up.” At a joke only he thought funny, he let out another howl.

“Not a problem,” Rita said leading him to the small dance floor.

Rita had to hold the Senator upright. She waited a few minutes and said matter of factly, “I was in the ladies’ room and I heard that the President and the First Lady were going to be here tonight. Is that true?”
