Toby's Wish

About the Book

Toby’s Wish is about a little elephant who has many animal friends and wishes to do something his friend(the monkey)does, which is swing from a tree. It’s about how wishes can come true, friendship, never say “give up”, togetherness, and fun.

It shows how friends can laugh at you, then show sadness and concern, and then help make your wishes and dreams come to life. It is illustrated with the help of a few different animals in the jungle.

About the Author

Mary Dudek is a 60 year old grandma of 7 grandchildren and lives in a suburb of Detroit, Michigan. Together with her grandson, 6 year old Michael, they wrote this little book. She watched Michael the first 2 years of his life, while his parents worked, and that’s how they created a very close bond.

Everyday, it was “Tell me a story, Grandma”, and every time she started to tell a story he would interrupt and put in his own version as to what would happen next. After exhausting all the known stories for children, Mary started to make up ones. This is how the story came about and after telling it over and over, which Michael wanted her to do, they decided to write it down. All of her grandchildren and their friends liked to have her read it again and again, and Mary and Michael hope you and your children like it too.
