About the Book

Distant Echoes, the voice of one, the watcher, crying in the wilderness of modern life, the stress and strife.  Some of the poems in this anthology raise these perennial questions to which we are still searching for answers.  Where are we going? Do we really know?  And for what purpose?  Is there ‘something’ behind the appearances, the nuances of perceptual differences?  Other poems remind us about the beauty and joy of life as the poet skillfully takes on his poetic journey of love, nostalgia, social commentary and miscellaneous topics.  Enjoy!

About the Author

Martin Richards was born in the twin island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.  He immigrated to the United States in 1978.   Martin started teaching at the age of eighteen and continues to be a teacher in Brooklyn, New York.  He also started writing poetry about this time on various subjects. Although he has the skill to write about any subject, much of his poetry is about his private philosophical reflections and concerns of life.  He has read some of his poetry to public audiences on various occasions.  Martin has been somewhat reluctant to publish what he viewed as the private concerns of his heart.  This decision finally came after the numerous prompting of friends and colleagues who after hearing or reading his poetry felt he had a voice which was worthy to be heard.
