I started this journey about twenty years ago, when I had a motorbike accident on April 18 1985, which resulted with me spending three months in a wheelchair. I was nine-teen years old at the time. I came out this experience, positively strong becoming transform in realizing and understanding my purpose in life. It became my dream, desire and vision to impact people lives positively always by my example, writing and speaking. I am happy today that this accident change my life it not what happen to you in life that count, it always how you respond to it, that counts most of all. Tough times never last, but tough people do. My book title and journey in life is best describe by these words written by me. Blessing, opportunity and gifts comes in all shapes, sizes and disguises. Dreams are made to become reality, prayers will be answer, wishes do come true. I first started with a Dream poem written for my country the Bahamas and the Bahamian people. I spoke at churches and school for one year, also having it publish in the local newspaper and sharing it on the Bahamas news channel television, then eventually fulfilling another dream, having it printed on a plaque.
That was erected on a Government school building I attended as a kid five years old. Yellow Elder Primary school, on October 29 1996. My next dream was sharing a poem written for the former Prime Minister of the Bahamas, at a retiring ceremony, thanking him for serving our country for twenty-five years, as Prime Minister, it was attended by an estimated crowd of eight thousand people. I was grateful and thankful for this experience, being a part of my country history, to have written and presented a poem affectionately referring to him as father of our Nation on July 8 1997, he was one of the longest serving Prime Minister in a Democratic nation in the world. I have pictures of videotapes to confirm these two events in my life. I left the Bahamas on July 20 1998 to live in New York. God do move in mysterious way ,I have been inspired to publish this book by two historical days and events in American history September 11 2001 terrorist attack and the November 2 2004 Presidential Election. One day when everyone came together as one America not Republican or Demorcrat, white, black, Hispanic, Asian, Indian, Muslim, Catholic, Protestant or Baptist but as American united together in one America. The next day we were divided because of our political and moral belief during the election. When voting for the next President of the United State of America.
My Poem a Tribute to 9/11 and a United America describe the action and deeds display by every American on this tragic day in American History. It is written to simply remind us, how we can live united together again in America.
A tribute to 9/11 and A United America. America where there would be no disloyalty, but sincerity. America where there would be no dishonesty, but trust. America where there would be no injustice, but fairness. America where there would be no degrading of one another but respect for each other. America where there would be no differences, because of our belief, race, creed or religion but being united together as one people in America.
