About the Book

This is not a novel. It is more of a reference work. It does not have to be read from beginning to end, although you can do that. It is meant to be a sort of primer of life, with a strong emphasis on the Bible, also known as "The Word". You may already know that book as a huge best seller.

So the essays are roughly arranged by subject in alphabetical order, like an encyclopedia or dictionary. Not designed for cover to cover reading. But the ideas are related, complex, and sometimes it is hard to find just what you are looking for in the way of answers.

The focus of this small book is part evangelistic. It is also partly related to the work that Christians who are already saved need to be about in God''s Kingdom work. It is also about the big issues in all our lives: happiness, sorrow, meaning, survival, and answers to the Great Questions that transcend even Life and Death.

If you''re not a Christian, I suggest that you read "Doubting Thomas", and "Smokin" first. If you already accept Jesus as our Savior, but wonder what to do, read "Executor", or just start leafing through the essays until you find something that grabs you.

About the Author

He is the second boy in a Roman Catholic family in South Bend, Indiana, whose five males were to attend Notre Dame and the last children were two girls who were possibly to marry Notre Dame men.

But the God of America had other plans, and only two and a half of the brothers attended the Catholic College. Mike was the half, who then went on to five other universities, day and night, getting an English degree from Loyola of Baltimore and then doing many years of odd graduate work at Purdue University.

Along the way the boy gradually became less Catholic and more agnostic, until the spring of 1999, when the Lord introduced the doubting one through Jesus and Thomas.

Now Mike still works to make a living, but his second job is apprentice shepherd, and he is still very young in His ministry. As Mike puts the shepherd work: "I got a long long way to go,…but I''m only sixty-four and a half years old!"
