N-414 Special Edition
Bob Best Jr. moves away from the Blue Water Marina at Parker, Arizona for a Kilo run on the Colorado River in his N-414 Special Edition. Best topped 133 mph at this November 1971 Southern California Speedboat Club (SCSC) regatta, and averaged better than 132 mph, only one mile per hour under the record. Best was National High Point Champion in the 225s in 1971.
SK-10 Cream Puff IX

About the Book
Here are sixty-two color photographs of hydroplanes and racing runabouts doing what race boats do... wailing down the straightaways, bucking and skidding through the turns, and accelerating toward the finish line. Classes represented include Unlimited Hydroplanes and the smaller Limited hydros, from 48 cubic inch up through the thundering Seven Litre hydros. Included also are the wickedly fast racing runabouts such as the Super Stocks, Ski Racing Runabouts, E Racing Runabouts, the mighty K Racing Runabouts, and the crowd favorites, the Crackerbox Runabouts.

About the Author
As a teenager, Bob Foley combined his photography hobby with his obsession with hydroplane racing. With a broad interest in motor sports, Foley took his camera bag along on whatever weekend excursion was on tap. In addition to photographing inboard racing events and Unlimited Hydroplane regattas, Foley has trained his lenses on Indy cars, Sports cars, Drag boats and drag cars, and radio controlled model boats.
