About the Book

            Fifth-Quarter Faith: Lessons to Learn When the Game is Over focuses on what Coach Eric Littleton characterizes as the “teachable moments” in sports. In an age of a win-at-all-cost mentality where coaches and parents alike are growing increasingly outrageous in their behavior, Fifth-Quarter Faith redefines our goals and objectives in sports using real-life stories from Coach Eric Littleton’s fifteen years of coaching basketball at the high school and college levels. Using biblical stories to draw comparisons to real-life scenarios, parents and coaches alike are challenged to “raise the bar” in their attitude and conduct as it relates to their children’s involvement in sports and other extracurricular activities. Fifth-Quarter Faith is a great tool for church discussion groups and Bible studies, weekend seminars, youth sports league orientations, or just for personal reading.

About the Author

            Eric Littleton grew up in the highly successful sports community of Ada, Oklahoma. He was an eight-season starter (fall and spring seasons for four years) for the class 2A Latta High School baseball program. During those eight seasons, Littleton started on eight consecutive state tournament qualifying teams. Littleton was also a three-year starter for the Latta High School basketball team that qualified for the state tournament for only the third time in school history. After high school, Littleton attended the University of North Carolina where he worked as a junior varsity student manager for the legendary Dean Smith and the Tarheel basketball program. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in English education, Littleton began his fifteen-year coaching career that took him all over the world. Littleton served as an assistant coach at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, head coach at the newly established Edmond North Oklahoma High School, and head coach at Cascade College in Portland, Oregon. Littleton also coached basketball for one year on Okinawa Island in the Sea of China.

            Littleton left education in May of 2005 to begin a new career and to raise his two-year-old twin sons, Isaac and Solomon, and his newborn daughter, Carolina Grace Littleton. Littleton is married to his high school sweetheart, Marci. They celebrated their nineteenth anniversary this summer. The Littletons live in Edmond, Oklahoma.
