The newly discovered planet twinkled like the most beautiful decoration on a Christmas tree - a multi-hued glistening sphere hung in the vastness of space. A vista of blues - the dark blue of the deep oceans, the lighter shades of shallows, the whole spectrum of greens and browns cascading across the landmasses - contrasting with the occasional grey of mountains or canyon areas. Flecks of white cloud meandering across the skies, looking like floating cousins of the polar ice caps. Just in view was the main moon with its prominent ring system - a huge orangey yellow globe, with flecks of red and purple clouds swirling intently across the face. Beyond that vista, the binary star system beyond offered twin older yellow-red and young bluey-white suns at the centre of this planetary system, counterbalanced in a precise gravitational compromise. As a final backdrop, the whole collection hung in front of the Pleiades star cluster-cum-reflection nebula-cum-star "nursery" - a cluster of some 200 infant stars, which all hung among an outstandingly beautiful nebula of white and blue-white gasses - which shimmered over them like a bridal veil. The vista was breathtaking.
The Oarsis' crew were transfixed - each gazing out of an observation port as Ossy, the ship's SCC automatically handled the final arrival into geo stationary orbit. "Well, I'd certainly pay to do the tour..." White said quietly. "I've never seen a system that looks just so wonderfully... pretty..." Baedecker added emphatically. “Would be ideal for a holiday camp Salu..." Joe chided the Indonesian gently. "Those rich tourists would certainly pay through the hilt to come here..." White added with a thin smile towards Junavika. Farnis allowed himself a brief grunt of agreement as he too gazed out from the forward observation port. Ossy was storing data faster than he could think.

Follow in the fortunes and adventures of a group of space explorers from Earth. They stumble across a new world deep in space called Aij. But is it a new beginning or the start of the end? Journey with them as they explore this new place, how they manage to overcome their fears and help another group of native creatures win their own territory and then develop a system to start democracy and create their own society. But as it starts to develop, they become reliant on the import of certain goods and devices. New species from interbreeding are created and want to be accepted into society. But beware, something is out there, watching, waiting – something evil. Politics, war, evil, love, wizardry and mythical creatures all feature – this book has everything and more besides.
About the Author
Stephen Paul Winter
Born on
Academically brilliant, Stephen obtained 9 O’Levels and 3 A’Levels before obtaining his degree in Computer Studies and University. He also became a qualified accountant and managed to juggle the businesses he set up within both the computer and accountancy areas. He helped an enormous amount of people and was respected in all of these fields for his knowledge and talents. Stephen had a great sense of humour, and enjoyed travelling whenever he had the opportunity. He started to teach Computer Studies at University and enjoyed passing on his knowledge to his students.
After a tragic accident on vacation on a cruise ship, Stephen died aged just 39. He left his family devastated by this event. Stephen had completed this novel just before his accident and his sister wanted his memory to live forever and make sure Stephen’s wish for his book to be published was completed.
