The Surprise in the Mailbox
The single line began moving along the side of the kiddie pool and across the grassy area that led to the grown-up pool and activity center.
As they were single hopping alongside the grown-up pool, Freddie noticed a sign.
He turned and said, “Do you know what the sign says, Tanga?”
“No, Freddie. You know I can’t read. Do you want me to guess?”
“Yes.”
“OK, Freddie. It says ‘Free ice cream for everybody!’ Do you know what it really says, Freddie?”
“No Tanga. I can’t read either. But your make believe sure sounds good to me!”
It was then that Freddie said, “Tanga, it looks like the big pool is closed. There are no grown-ups in it!”
Freddie was right. The grown-up pool was closed. There was a sign that said “Pool Closed For Cleaning. Will Re-open At Two O’Clock.”

The excitement grows as Freddie double hops to the edge of the pool to investigate.
With no one close by, and the cries for help getting louder and louder, Freddie realizes that it is up to him to make the rescue. But, being unable to swim, he has to come up with an idea, and quick!
