To Gale
I gathered yards of the smoky grey clouds:
And borrowed a bit of the blue
And O my sweet made the loveliest gown
For a dear little girl like you!
When it was done-I asked the tiniest star
To nestle awhile in your hair:
But God heard me asking and two stars he placed
In your bright eyes; to answer my prayer.

Marjorie knew she would not be around and yet the faith she presented in her poems is one of strength and love. At 24 years of age, she left this earth and left behind many poems to speak from her heart to the ones she loved so much. The book of poems given to C. Gale Perkins in 1993 by her sister Elaine and was set aside until Gale wrote her first book The Baby’s Cross this is the title of one of the poems written to her. After writing her book The Baby’s Cross author C. Gale Perkins knew in her heart she would have another book published honoring the Mother she never knew. Gale felt she learned about her mother in the book of poems and struggled with many feelings she had hidden deep within her soul. Gale is a strong determined woman who is able to rise above any adversity in her life and she feels that her faith is parallel to the faith she discovered in her Mom’s poetry. Gale has compensated for all the hugs she lost from being in a plaster cast most of her childhood, by becoming Hugs & kisses the clown, where she receives many hugs.
