About the Book
My twenty years of experience as a family practice physician and as a nutritional and fitness expert has taught me that the general public has very little knowledge about their health and about how their bodies function. My idea in writing this book was to provide the average person with the basic knowledge that they need in order to manage their health properly. I practiced hospital-based medicine for many years, and I gradually came to realize that by the time a person has reached the point to which they need regular medical care it is already too late. Therefore, we undertook research in order to develop a basic understanding as to why human beings engage in compulsive behaviors, so that we could help people break out of these destructive behavior patterns. The first step in changing these types of behaviors is to gain insight into the root causes of those behaviors.
This book also provides the reader with a flexible low calorie meal plan. What makes this meal plan unique is that, for the first time, we have combined an easy-to-use meal plan with the entire nutritional information database. Now if a person wants to go on a “diet”, they will still have access to the full range of food choices. No longer will a person have to deny themselves their favorite foods in order to follow a low calorie diet.
The user can follow a low carb or a low fat diet, and they can eat from one to six times per day.
Finally, we advise our readers on how to make proper food choices. There are a lot of different opinions out there as to what foods one should eat or avoid. In this book, we have tried to forge some logical consensus in regard to those opinions. We have also provided an extensive bibliography for those readers who are interested in doing further research into the more controversial areas. This should help them to formulate their own educated opinions as to their most appropriate and healthful dietary choices.
