About the Book

After leaving the beautiful mountains of southwest Virginia and living in the flatlands of northwestern Ohio, my mind often wandered to thoughts and memories of my childhood. Each visit back home would inspire me to write of my memories. As I composed and shared my poetry with others, I was asked by family and friends to write a poem for different occasions. Though each individual name may not appear in the poems, many are represented here in my words. Each of you holds a special place in my heart.
My sister Joyce has started writing poetry also and one of hers is included in this book. I hope she will continue composing because she truly has a gift of touching people's hearts.
I hope you enjoy reading my poetry and that you will be touched by something I wrote or that you will be able to see mountain memories through my words.

About the Author

I was born and raised in the Camp Creek section of Clintwood in southwestern Virginia, the eleventh child of Hardy and Cynthia Mullins. I attended school at Swindall Elementary and graduated Clintwood High School. I left the Appalachian Mountains to begin a new life in northwest Ohio. I never forgot the life I had had in those mountains and began writing poetry about my memories of home. In January 2000  my poem "Memories of Home"  won Honorable Mention in the Historic Sauder Village Erie Sauder Memorial Poetry Contest.
This is my first book of poetry, but I continue to write.
I now live with my husband John in Stryker Ohio. We have three children and  eight grandchildren.
