About the Book

First off I would give honor to God for the gift of writing poetry. This book was put together with poems that I have written beginning about 6 years ago, and I still have more poems to share. The first poem I had ever written is called Stray Away, because I was upset with someone I was involved with and the rest like she; is history! Well, I had a couple of friends’ critique it and I got rave reviews; not to mention that I had also sent the poems to her friends by email who in turn said I was wrong for the things I said, but they loved it, so I began writing more poems and using my feelings or using the feelings of friends’ who were down and out. I wrote poems to feel their pain, love, and excitement.

My title of the book called, The Sunshine from Behind a Mountain is definitely what it is. There are many burdens that people go through with during their life, which represent the mountain, but to know that you have an exit such as writing poetry, playing basketball, skinny dipping, or turning donuts in a parking lot, whatever it is that you do to make you happy is your sunshine. I hope you feel my poetry, and that it may bring sunshine to your life!

About the Author

Mitchell O. Scott Jr. aka Mick Scott was born in Ft. Polk, Louisiana, in May 1976, to Mitchell O. Scott Sr. and Patricia E. (Wilson) Scott. He was reared in Clarksville, Tennessee, along with his two brothers Marius Byron Scott, Maurice Antonio Scott, and one sister Latoya Shaunta' Scott. As a teenager he wrote poetry, but in the form of raps, which his mother never approved of, because she felt that her son was headed in the wrong direction and setting a bad example for his siblings. In return, he decided to quit writing raps and started writing short stories that he still owns (Seventeen and Looking for Love) in his stash of "rainy day projects" or as he calls it "The RDP files". Mick, again started writing in early 2000, with his first poem titled, "Stray Away" when his emotions got the best of him after a bad relationship. Given the name, "Lyrical Genius" and "Quinton Black" because of how some of his work is so metaphoric that some have believed that he has another personality, when he writes, which is opposite of his personality as a joker known by many. The poem, "Stray Away", which opened the door to the inner thoughts of his heart and soul of his mind is in this dynamic book. Follow his deep thoughts as he shares them with you and draws you in as if you were there and we guarantee that you will crave for more once you finish this book.

Mick lives in Montgomery, Alabama, with his lovely wife Sharon Latoya Baxter-Scott and two children Aurieanna LaShae' and Alanna LaChele'. He is currently attending The University of Phoenix online to earn a degree in Criminology with a minor in Recreation Management. In his spare time, he enjoys basketball, weight lifting, and is currently working on his second book called "Metamorphosis: Poetically Speaking". Please make yourself at home with his book and feel the energy that has inspired him to write.
