Mary Cecilia Butler was filled with compassion, humor, love, life, and a heart of gold. She was our Aunt Mame, and these special qualities are reflected in her poems. Thankfully she never married, which allowed her to be our second mother. At the young age of seventy-two she took lessons on the violin, taught by a nun who was at St. Dominic’s School at that time. We had a very musical family and Mame was right in the middle of the fun. She learned the art of making cosmetics and made sure her family, relatives and friends all shared in her goodness on holidays and many other occasions.
