YOU WALKED INTO MY LIFE
WHEN I WASN’T EXPECTING IT
LIKE A QUIET STORM
YET AT FULL FORCE YOU HIT
MY LIFE WAS AT A STANDSTILL
I WASN’T QUITE READY TO DATE
BUT OUT OF NO WHERE YOU APPEARED
AND IN MY HEART I FELT IT WAS FATE
YOU SEEMED SO QUIET, SO SHY,
AND SO ENGROSSED IN WHAT YOU DO
MY IMAGINATION COULDN’T HELP BUT RUN WILD
DUE TO THAT CERTAIN AIR OF MYSTERY ABOUT YOU
I WANTED TO FEEL YOU, TOUCH YOU, HOLD YOU,
EXPERIENCE THINGS THAT I NEVER KNEW
AND EVERY TIME I LOOKED INTO YOUR BROWN EYES
I SENSED YOU FELT THE SAME WAY TOO
THE WAY YOU TALKED, THE WAY YOU LAUGHED,
THE SEXY WAY YOU SMILED
EACH TIME I PASSED YOU IN THE HALL
THESE THINGS WOULD DRIVE ME WILD
I LONGED FOR YOU, MY BODY ACHED
I TOSSED AND TURNED EACH NIGHT
AND DEEP INSIDE MY HEART I KNEW
THAT ONE DAY YOU WOULD HOLD ME TIGHT
YOU WERE KIND TO ME
EMOTIONALLY AND FINANCIALLY AS WELL
YOU WERE SENSITIVE AND CARING
AND HAD A SENSE OF HUMOR THAT WAS SWELL
WELL, WE FINALLY MADE LOVE--
THE MOST THRILLING SENSATION I’D EVER FELT

The author’s creative efforts are based on her feelings, actual experiences, and her runaway imagination for love and romance. Her mixed genre of poetry ranges from family/friends and love/relationships to poignant and spiritual. She says that feelings are simply expressions of the heart as seen through the windows of our eyes and should be shared. In our own uniqueness each of us still experience some of the same trials and tribulations as well as blessings.
Our darkness is only temporary and will be a testimony to help others who are going through the same things or worse. There is always a bright light in the end, because God will never leave us alone. It is His promise. Also, when you are blessed, you should share your blessings with others. God works in mysterious ways.
It is her hope that this book touches you to a degree that you realize you are not alone during your heartache and pain. Maybe you will be able to let your wall down and love again or know when to let go and move on. Her intentions are to inspire you to love and accept yourself and also to encourage you to cope with and overcome the storms of life. She will not believe that her poetry has been written in vain; therefore, she gives God all the praise and glory.
About the Author
Sabrina Houston has always expressed her thoughts and feelings on paper, as well as verbally, since she was very young. For years she has contemplated presenting her creative efforts to the public. With her strong faith in God and her beautiful mother as her backbone and strength, she has finally brought her heartfelt emotions to fruition, thus producing “Poetic Eyes”, a compilation of poems based on some of her life experiences and also on her runaway imagination for love and romance. Her poems consist of a mixed genre, ranging from love/relationships and family/friends to poignant and spiritual.
She hopes this heartfelt language through the windows of her eyes will inspire others to love and accept themselves and also able them to deal with similar trials and tribulations, heartache and pain, true love or lost love. Her advice to all is, if you conceive in your mind and believe in your heart, you can definitely achieve in reality, regardless of age, gender or race. Simply put God first in your righteous endeavors.
