TRUE LOVE
True love is still turning his head at each red car that passes me by
Remembering when it pulled in the drive and brought a happy tear to my eye
Or smiling softly thinking about how she choked laces on her shoes
As I slowly swing in the early dawn morn and chase away the blues
Wondering if she thinks at all about the shadows that she has cast
Or cares at all about hopes and dreams and love that was supposed to last
True love still watches daily on the couch near where Raymond be
True love is still dreaming about the mountains and the sea
True love still sits and wonders as Chester bounds playfully by
Then races around and up the trunk reaching for the sky
True love is still tending our past ones shallow graves
Wishing over and over again that life and love be saved.
True love still envisions her as she carefully fixes her hair
Smiling, as she sees him watching as if she will always be there
True love found the Valentine’s bag…….the gift from 2004
When he tidied up the closet it was hidden, intact upon the floor
True love sees the smiles and laughs and tears upon her cheek
Reaching out to him once more, his love to once again seek
True love saw his little girl sobbing so mysteriously
The day he came to see her because she was important to me
True love saw the sad look on her face as he slowly drove away
Thinking all he ever wanted was for her love to stay
True love sits and wonders why she chooses to always hide
The true loving feelings for me that she harbors deep inside
True love still checks his mail each and every day
And lies quietly in their bed each night remembering to pray
That God may someday explain why He chose to punish me
To make me live in frustration has become a mystery
And in my confusion I always thought good deeds begot reward
But instead heartache and suffering became too easy to afford
True love contemplates each morn against the wooden heart
Why his true love is far from him when he knew right from the start
How real and strong and true and long the feelings there would be
But alas, she chooses to push herself always away from me
And I’ll never fully understand the choices she does make
That forces our true happiness to constantly forsake
True love doesn't fade away even in the worst of times
Though often it is hard to take the emptiness of echoing chimes
Sometimes instead it fills heart and soul of timeless sweet memories
Like holding hands during The Notebook from which all can easily see
That even on days when the mind is gone, but the heart remembers thee
And that the strength of love everlasting can surely last an eternity
THE BLACK HOLE OF LIFE
Into the black hole of life we all go
Seems the longer we're in, the less we know
Searching for answers........never to see
Dreams that should last an eternity
Crawling through one's raging fire
Climbing the Tetons just to admire
The statuesque gold of another’s feat
As they haughtily blast us into retreat
Yes into the black hole of life we all go
The longer we're in, the less we all know
Into the black hole of life the babe creeps
Gawking around afraid of the deep
The innocent laughter and joyful tear
